This reflection from CCEF reminded me so much of my friend that I thought I would shard it with you.

Good link. Unlearning the old in Adam and learning the new in Christ is certainly a process taking time. Akin to learning a musical instrument such as a violin or guitar which will sound horrible at first, but by and by can play beautiful music. Of course the gift and ability given by God through Christ by the Spirit, but one that just doesn't come automatically. (idea from a book I'm reading now)

In the case of your friend, hers was certainly the music of heaven.

Interesting thoughts, Ted, but I'm not sure how they relate to the article I posted.

Yes. As I recall the article, it has to do with practice in regard to that person who said nothing changed when he received word that he was going to die, that he had spent day after day in God's word, something to that effect. Therefore I thought of the hours of practice it takes to really begin to get down a musical instrument to sound the way it is intended, or created to sound. Likewise us in Christ by the Spirit learning by practicing what God calls us to do, over and over (and not to do what God forbids) until it becomes not first nature, the way we were born, but second nature, a part of our rebirth, an acquired taste, so that the other is more and more distasteful. Something to that effect.

We in Jesus know about this over years. What we delight in, and what we abhor should be different now, as we follow Christ. But together, as an orchestra, not just as separate sounds. All a part of that growing up in Christ or into Christ as one Body.

Sorry if this isn't clear, and if it's still off the mark of the link.
