comment moderation
has been placed on the blog as long as I'm away and can't moniter what is being said - I'll reconsider when I get back home later next week and can sort through what's been going on in my absence.
A lot of what I say is to stir debate. Debate is good, it makes one think. Not just from ones own perspective, but from others as well.
I have a lot of respect for most, but some I do not.
I have a problem with hand guns- they are designed to kill people. Not bears ( as an example)
I have problems with people who, going into 3rd world countries- force their culture onto others as if its the "only way."
I have a problem with "christians" who say its ok to kill the doctor who is involved with abortion, yet its abortion is not ok. I have a problem with christians who drag a dog behind a motor bike... when the dog is only doing what its owners have trained it to do.
I have a problem with christians who are obese, especially in 3rd world countries.
I have a problem with christians who carry hand guns who would "kill" ahead of forgive....
Tell me- is one life worth less than 100? Surly by taking a life, he has no chance to come to the lord and ask for forgiveness?

Luther i have a problem with you- you represent all that I do not like. you are overweight ( at least in the photos) you cowardly kill a dog- boast about it as if you are a "real man". You would kill a burglar and you judge others...
You argue from a position of pure nonsense when it comes to hunting. Have you ever been for real? Come with me I will take you hunting razor back pigs with a knife... and they are "put down" humainly. No pain... No hunter is allowed to carrry a hand gun..
Yet- there you are in a 3rd world country telling them "how it is."
No wonder that part of the world loathes the west....
I am ashamed. ashamed to have met people like you. to have spent money believing they were on "missions" when In fact they were just lining there pockets with Imperial behaviors....
Where is Christ in this? did he walk around with a dagger? Or drag a dog behind a donkey? nope...
Even when they stuck a spear into his side he forgave. Even when tempted by the devil he just kept going.....
Simon - I have published your comment, not because I agree with or appreciate much of what you have said, but because I want Lutl-Luther to see how he comes across to others. I do not believethat you have a realistic picture of who he is. I think though that I will let Don, who has known him personally for many years, speak to his character.
By the way Simon, just in case you didn't realize it, you are "hitting" more people than Litl-Luther with your words.
I also am overweight (even more so since my recent trip).
I think if someone came after my children - or anyone elses for that matter - and I could get to a gun to protect them, I would have no qualms about pulling the trigger to protect them. I've also put vicious dogs down - humanely - but definitely dead.
Triston is a good friend, we go way back. He has been in Nepal for 12 years now, and has many Nepali friends.
I wish you could ask them what they think of Trsiton. They love him. Now, some in Nepal will not love Triston. Hey, that's just the way it is.
Has Triston done everything perfect? No.
He has explained why he killed the dog. It's a different culture in Nepal for one thing. He did say he would do it different next time, but he would still do it to protect his wife, Jaya.
I too would protect my wife, as I'm sure you would Simon.
And Susan made a couple good remarks which I hope you take in account.
The Church is flawed Simon. Jesus Christ is flawless. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. You, and all men and women, need to answer the question, "Who is Jesus?"
As CS Lewis said, "Jesus is either a lunatic, liar, or He is the Christ, the Son of God. He didn't leave us an option of who He is, and never intended to." (Paraphrased)
Christ is alive, and longsuffering and forgiving as you have said. But He has a wrath against sin, ans sinners as well. Unrepentant sinners will be condemned. Those who reject Christ, and resist the Holy Spirit's call.
But even when one comes to Christ, and is a new creature, he/she is still flawed, but now has a new heart, and a mind that is being renewed as well.
There are 66 books in the Bible, and the Lord Jesus said, with no uncertain terms, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."
Donsands: it might be a different culture in Nepal, but that doesn't give Luther the right to kill a dog in the way he did, and then boast about it. I agree with Simon about the way Luther projects himself.
I think that's one of the things that I didn't think was coming through very well in the "written word" Llama. I don't think Litl-Luther was trying to boast about the dog but rather I think he was trying to make the point that protecting his wife took precedence over the dog.
Having been in Mexico where a friend was actually bitten under similar circumstances and had to go through painful rabies treatments, I can certainly see why trying to "make friends" with the dog first might be an unwise thing to do - though likely I would have been getting the rabies shots from having been bitten - I tend to be a bit too trusting :) of men and beasts!

It's a sad incident nonetheless.
I know another missionary couple in Nepal, where a dog attacked their daughter, and chewed her face up. She still has scars. Very sad that this girl was marred by a mean dog.
The pitbulls in America have killed children by ripping them apart. Sometimes prevention can save someone from getting hurt, and even killed.
One thing that makes us think of one another in different ways is from blogging, and e-mailing.
I believe if Lil-Luther and the rest of us get together somewhere and sit face to face and talk, it would be much more lovely.
To be able to see one's countenance and smile, and gestures means a lot. And I know Triston is a loving man, and has a beautiful wife, with two wonderful children. He has an incredible brother-in-law, Jivan, who pastors a small church in Nepal, and who is married to Jaya's sister. He is a fine pastor and a friend of Triston's.
Blogging can cause us to have heated discussions for sure. And we surely need to ask for forgiveness at times, and apologize as well.
And we always need to remember we are conversing on Susan's website. We are in her domain, and we need to always respect that.
If we are on our own blog, then that's different. Very essential to recognize that. I try to be respectful to the max at all times to be honest, but even moreso on another persons homeground.

I may look underweight in pics, but in reality I could shed a few pounds from my middle as well, as you could see if we were out on a beach! :)
