Waiting

There's a lot of waiting going on in my house - both my daughter and I are waiting on news of new jobs, waiting for our puppy to come home (no, no news), waiting for good news of beloved ones in crisis, waiting for deadlines to be over and last weeks of a hard job to be done well, waiting for new beginnings, waiting for Christmas - waiting and wondering.

Drew has a wonderful post on waiting, utilizing the words of Dietrich Bonhoeffer; so, in this time of waiting for us, I thought some of you might be waiting too and that Drew's post might be of as much comfort to you as it is to me.

Amen to Drew's post. Wise words as always from Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

I'm always better off waiting and seeking not to take matters in my own hands. Waiting on the Lord that is, of course.

Deb and I are praying for you and yours.

I'm so much like Jacob sometimes - always trying to take things in my own hands and make them happen - you're right, better to wait

thanks for your prayers

Keep your pecker up Susan! We are all gunning for you!
Love Jill.

oops, that would be "cheering FOR you"

Humm Llama dear - that either means, "stiff upper lip old girl, we're cheering or you", or "stick your beak out old girl, I have a bird gun pointed in your direction". I think I'm going to choose the former and say thanks!

Actually the word 'pecker' it a somewhat vulgar Cockney word (you can probably guess it's meaning!) but the expression 'keep your pecker up' is in common English usage and is not thought to be too vulgar any more!

It just means, keep on in there, keep going and try to have fun as well!

I had a feeling that's what you meant - but couldn't help a bit of poking fun at you all the same!!

I'm afraid the word has the same meaning in the US, btw! Too funny!!!

Yes, keeping on keeping on! A full grant went in yesterday, a grant of a draft also went in for approval yesterday; I am checking my email multiple times a day for it is time for rejections from another grant to come out - and so far no rejections, so that is good; The full submission for the next grant goes in next week so I am working on that submission as well.

In fact, I spend all of Tuesday and Wednesday sitting in my pj's in the same chair with my laptop! how's that for vulgar!!!! But, even I must admit that Maalie would be quite impressed with our data!! So, no more of that for today!! It's the dentist and errands next! And it is sunshinning beautifully, even if cold.

Hugs and kisses to you Llama dear!

One month has passed since commencement of my debating fast. But now as I begin anew, alas, with whom do I lash or turn obnoxiously brash? There are no tantalizing comments to bash, or commenter to sass. Woefully I must continue to endure this surly fast....Yet, don’t bemock my resolve—neither gent nor lass. Such would be amply rash. I shall be back with a Herculean cache, quivering in underpants the natural result from impact and blast. Trauma follows last; even urine may pass.

....Hopefully you realize I wrote the above in jest.

Peace and best wishes as you wait for your new job. Waiting is not something I'm good at but it does my soul a world of good.

Are you going to get another little dog Susan?

Luther: If you want to debate and say contraversial things, go over to Bluecollar's blog. They are at it all the time.

Litl-Luther said...

Thanks Lorenzo, but I was just foolin' around. I think I've lost the debate bug for the time being. Besides, I never really liked bluecollar any way.

Susan, I passed an award on to you. Due to your busy schedule, don't feel like you have to do it.

I hope you and your family have a happy Christmas and festive season Halfmom. The sun was, minutes ago, overhead at the Tropic of Capricorn, and it is now on its way north to lighten our days towards spring.

Happy Solstice you you and your readers.
